A Plan of Liquidation was confirmed and an Official Committee of Unsecured Creditors was appointed to oversee the estate. Oak Point Partners, Inc. acquired the remnant assets of the Montgomery Ward, LLC, et al., Bankruptcy Estate in August 2015.

Founded in 1872, Montgomery Ward was a retailer of apparel, footwear, home furnishings and jewelry. The company pioneered mail-order catalogs and was the first mail-order house to sell general merchandise in the United States. In 1985, the company’s founder, Aaron Montgomery Ward also established the sales practice, “satisfaction guaranteed or your money back”. The company also had a decorated and colorful history. A Montgomery Ward employee was the author and creator of Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer. Montgomery Ward published the booklet in 1939. At its peak, the company operated in 31 states and employed 37,000 people.
