A Plan was confirmed and a Trustee was appointed to oversee the bankruptcy estate for creditors. Oak Point Partners, Inc. acquired the remnant assets of the Molten Metal Technology, Inc. Bankruptcy Estate in December 2009.

Molten Metal was an environmental technology company. The company aimed to recycle and reduce toxic waste by dissolving it in a molten metal bath. An MIT scientist and Harvard businessman founded the company when they found that chemicals in hazardous waste could be rendered harmless when soaked in a bath of molten metal hotter than volcanic lava. The company employed nearly 500 people.

Molten Metal also operated as M4 Environmental Management Inc. and MMT.

The former headquarters of Molten Metal was located in Waltham, MA.
