On May 4, 2009, Filene’s Basement, Inc. and its related entities (“Filene’s Basement”) filed a chapter 11 petition in the United States Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware, assigned case No. 09-11525. A plan was confirmed and a Secretary Treasurer was appointed to liquidate the estate’s assets. Oak Point Partners, Inc. acquired the remnant assets of the FB Liquidating Estates in January 2014.

Founded in 1908, Filene’s Basement operated as a value-priced fashion retailer carrying men’s and women’s apparel, accessories, jewelry, shoes, and home fashions. Filene’s Basement was the oldest off-price retailer in the United States and was well known for its “Running of the Brides” sales event. During the annual one-day event, brides-to-be would rush throughout the store to purchase deeply discounted bridal gowns. At its peak in the mid 1990s, the company operated 56 stores in the United States.
Filene’s Basement also operated as FB Leasing Services LLC.
The former headquarters of Filene’s Basement was located in Burlington, MA.
