Oak Point Partners, Inc. acquired the remnant assets of the Service Merchandise Company, Inc., et al., Bankruptcy Estate in December 2008.
On March 27, 1999, Service Merchandise Company, Inc. and its related entities (“Service Merchandise”) filed a chapter 11 petition in the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Middle District of Tennessee, assigned Case No. 99-02649. Thereafter, Service Merchandise confirmed a liquidating plan and a Plan Administrator was appointed to liquidate the estate’s assets. Oak Point Partners, Inc. acquired the remnant assets of Service Merchandise in December 2008.
Service Merchandise was a national retailer of fine jewelry, housewares, small appliances, home electronics, and other goods with stores in 37 states and a major catalog operation. Service Merchandise operated under several trade names including HJ Wilson, Mr. How Warehouse, Warco Supply Company and Wholesale Supply Company.
The former headquarters of Service Merchandise was located in Brentwood, TN.
